Khymeia Group was founded in 1998 with the specific objective to develop and build instruments with a high level of innovation in those fields of medicine characterized by a constant and growing demand for technological solutions. The principles that Khymeia Group has always been based on are those of technological innovation supported by an extraordinary ease of use, clinical trials, scientific research and clinical efficacy together with economic efficiency.
Until 2007 Khymeia Group has intensively invested its resources in research, development and clinical testing of a groundbreaking project that gave rise to an important international patent: VRRS, Virtual Reality Rehabilitation System, the world's most advanced application of the Virtual Reality in rehabilitation and tele-rehabilitation neurological, musculoskeletal, cognitive, and speech therapy, whose positive results have generated a massive amount of international scientific publications, culminating in September 2011 to mark the publication of the Cochrane Review that attests, confirming , the extraordinary effects of the VRRS system on rehabilitation.
Meantime, the success of VRRS led the launch of a new patent: Neurowave, an innovative technology platform targeting multi-sensory stimulations and simultaneous acquisition, synchronization and analysis of the biophysiological data of patients in a vegetative state and minimally conscious state, thus providing a concrete answer, in terms of diagnostic, prognostic and rehabilitative strategy, to a syndrome yet almost unexplored.
Khymeia Group plays an important role also in the field of compensatory aids by developing innovative products that currently are considered landmarks for the disability environment, such MultiKhy, Khymmi and MEM, respectively, a software for synthesis and voice recognition, a software focused on alternative or facilitated communication and a system for the autonomy of people with minimal residual motor skills.
The constant contact with the scientific environment, still represented by the fundamental relationships with researchers and scientists of international institutions such as, among others, the MIT in Boston, the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, IRCCS San Camillo, in Venice, Hospital San Raffaele in Milan, Don Gnocchi Foundation, University of Padua, Bologna and Modena, provides Khymeia Group of an international leadership in terms of scientific know-how always aiming to the development of new technologies that have as their objective the greater clinical efficacy combined with a concrete economic sustainability in terms of health care efficiencies.
